One Nation One Subscription Scheme

One Nation One Subscription:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government has introduced a revolutionary initiative called ‘One Nation, One Subscription’ (ONOS). This scheme aims to provide all central and state-run higher educational institutions with access to a vast collection of renowned international journals on a single platform. The implementation of this subscription will be undertaken by the Information and Library Network (INFLIBNET). A substantial budget of ₹6,000 crores has been allocated for this project, which will be rolled out over three years, starting from 2025.

Key Objectives of ONOS

Unified Access: The primary goal is to offer all government higher educational institutions a consolidated platform for accessing both national and international journal publications.

Bridging the Gap: This scheme will particularly benefit institutions that lack sufficient resources to subscribe to these journals independently.

Comprehensive Coverage: Approximately 13,000 journals across various academic disciplines will be made available under this initiative.

Who Benefits from ONOS?

Government Institutions: All government-funded higher education institutions, universities, colleges, and institutes of national importance, such as IITs and IISc, will be eligible.
